BREA CALI - Barre Instructor
Brea is a multidisciplinary artist, serial entrepreneur, and cultural consultant. She is the Co-Founder of ANDRAKA CALI, a marketing company in Savannah, Georgia, specializing in consumer relations innovation.
From Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, Brea attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Performance in 2001. She has danced for ALBAN ELVED DANCE COMPANY, Theater Under the Stars, Houston Grand Opera, THE SANDRA ORGAN DANCE COMPANY, Dancepaththeatre, MICHIGAN OPERA THEATRE, EISENHOWER DANCE, ARMITAGE GONE! DANCE, Leonides D. Arpon, johannes wieland (NYC), and culminated her career with 6 years in Kassel, Germany as a Soloist for STAATSTHEATER KASSEL, under the direction of Johannes Wieland.
In 2011, Brea was featured in Dance Magazine - Deaf Dancers Speak - as one of seven, hearing impaired movement professionals working within the field.
She has taught modern, ballet, jazz, and creative movement at the professional and pre-professional level, was an adjunct member of the Ballet faculty of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, MI, and has extensive experience with educational and community outreach programming as well as private studio management.
Creating work under her own brand BREA CALI, Brea’s creative work spans a variety of disciplines with award winning artists and has been screened and performed at global festivals and exhibitions in Germany, Greece, Italy, and the USA. Her award winning film NO. 4 (2010) was featured on the European culture TV channel - ARTE, nominated for the Golden Hercules Prize in Germany, and awarded the T-Junction Audience Award in Germany, with RELEASE (2009) awarded the Bronze Award of DFA's What Moves You? 48 Hour Challenge in New York.
Having previously held the positions of Senior Director of WELMONT, Executive Director for the Savannah Dance Festival, General Manager for johannes wieland, and Administrative Assistant for ARMITAGE GONE! DANCE, Ms. Cali successfully managed the development and implementation of arts and culture advancement strategies and programming.
Brea continually advocates for and consults on arts and culture development, having served as a Dance Panelist for the National Endowment of the Arts - Dance Art Works Grants for 2018 and 2016, as a Partner Grant Panelist for the Georgia Council for the Arts for 2019 and 2018, and as the Chair of the Commission for the City of Savannah’s Department of Arts, Culture & Historical Resources from 2015 to 2018.
